Recovering 2FA Code Generator
Here, we will examine the procedure for regaining access to your account if you have enabled two-factor authentication but have lost access to the 2FA code generation app.
Prerequisites
1. You must have a registered Peerobyte account. You can read about how to register an account in the instructions: “Creating an Account”.
2. Your account must have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled. You can read about how to enable two-factor authentication on your account in the instructions: “Enabling 2FA on Your Account”.
3. You must have access to the email that your peerobyte account is linked to.
Instructions
1. Send an email to [email protected] to our technical support.
This email should:
- Be sent from the email address associated with your Peerobyte account;
- Have the subject: "Request to Disable 2FA Due to Loss of Access to Code Generator";
- Contain a description of the problem, for example, "I have lost access to my 2FA code generator and request that 2FA be disabled for my account.";
- If possible, include in the email the Backup Code that was provided to you when you enabled two-factor authentication.
2. Wait for a response from the support service or a call to the phone number linked to your account with further instructions for regaining access. The support service may ask you to confirm that you are the owner of the account, which could be information related to the account or certain documents.
3. Fulfill the requirements of the support service and provide the necessary confirmations.
4. Wait for an email from the support service informing you that two-factor authentication for your account has been disabled.
5. Log into your account using your username and password.
After that, you can enable two-factor authentication again. You can find instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication for your account in the guide: “Enabling 2FA on Your Account”.
