Troubleshooting SSH issues
Here we will look at situations that can arise when connecting via SSH, and we will also offer practical steps to troubleshoot possible issues.
When connecting via SSH, users most often encounter problems related to network configuration, such as firewalls or security groups blocking the default port 22, which prevents the connection from being established. Authentication errors are also common, caused by incorrect credentials or misconfigured SSH keys that do not match the server's list of authorized public keys. Users may receive host authentication warnings if changes have been made to the server's SSH keys, which can happen when the server is reinstalled or compromised. Sometimes users experience connection timeouts due to slow network speeds or misconfigured routing. More rarely, access may not be possible when server settings are misconfigured to disable root login or password authentication. These problems and their solutions are discussed in this section.
